Set your expectation to a stylish adults-only ship rather than a sprawling resort pool complex, and Virgin over-delivers.

It won’t be for everyone, and that’s worth saying plainly. Virgin leans loud and design-forward — a tattoo studio, drag brunch, dinner that doubles as theater — so anyone after hushed, white-glove formality should look at Viking or the ultra-luxury lines instead. And the 18-plus rule cuts both ways: a gift if you want a week without other people’s children, a non-starter if you’re bringing your own.
