Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya

Mexico · Playa del Carmen · Adults-only · Swim-up suites

Hyatt's adults-only flagship on the Riviera Maya — a 70-acre, 291-suite property rebuilt and rebranded in 2023 from the former Secrets Capri, with swim-up suites, in-suite private plunge pools, and a single main pool split by an overwater pedestrian bridge.

The Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya is the result of a recent full renovation and rebrand — the property was previously known as Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun and reopened as Hyatt’s adults-only flagship for the area in 2023. The Zilara brand is Hyatt’s adults-only line within the Inclusive Collection (its family-friendly counterpart is Hyatt Ziva), so the adults-only positioning here is structural to the brand, not a section within a larger property.

The resort spans 70 acres on a quiet stretch of beach roughly 15 minutes north of central Playa del Carmen, with 291 suites across 12 categories. The water-forward inventory is the most relevant feature: Swim-Up King suites with direct pool access from the terrace, Ocean Front Private Pool Kings with in-suite plunge pools, and a 1,582-square-foot Presidential Suite with a terrace plunge pool. Four restaurants and five bars and lounges round out the dining, plus the on-property Zen Spa with ten treatment rooms.

The single main pool has two sections connected by an overwater pedestrian bridge — visually striking but with a water barrier underneath, so you can’t actually swim between sections. The size of the property (291 rooms) makes this one of the smaller adults-only options in the area, which guests consistently note as a positive for service ratios and pool crowding.
