Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres earns its directory spot on the swim-up suite — and specifically the version in the adults-only Elegance Club, where the water outside your door comes with a butler and a quieter crowd. Worth noting: this is not fully adults-only. It’s a single property split into a family section (all ages) and the 18-and-over Elegance Club, but the Club is large enough and well-managed enough that it genuinely functions like an adults-only resort once you’re inside it.

When you book, be specific: Elegance Club swim-up suite. Confirm it twice. I stayed in Room 3001 — a corner suite — and the privacy was real. The swim-up area felt like ours. We played music, lingered, and didn’t feel the need to go anywhere. That’s the experience you’re booking this resort for. One note worth knowing: the swim-up suites all seem to get good sun, but request a sunny-side room explicitly — a few reviewers have noted getting a shaded terrace when they didn’t specify. The two swim-up tiers in the Club are the Elegance Club Majestic Junior Suite Swim Up (the smaller, more affordable entry point) and the larger Elegance Club Swim Up Suite, both ground-floor with direct step-in pool access and an outdoor jacuzzi. Above those sit the rooftop Elegance Club Plunge Pool Suites with their own private plunge pool — a genuinely different room from the swim-ups, which matters for the next point.

One warning that comes up in reviews: some guests report being “upgraded” at check-in to a rooftop suite, which has no jacuzzi, less shade, and a smaller plunge pool. This is not an upgrade. Know the difference before you arrive and push back if it happens to you.

For context on scale: this is a big resort — roughly 570 suites, with close to 70 percent of them inside the adults-only Elegance Club, which is why the Club has the heft to feel self-contained. It opened in 2019 as Majestic Resorts’ first Mexico property, on the Costa Mujeres strip north of Cancún, sharing the same calm, undeveloped coastline as the Playa Mujeres cluster.

The vibe in the Elegance Club is mellow and low-key — not rowdy, which suits this kind of trip well. Eight restaurants on property — Kabuki for sushi, Don Jaume for steak, Bistro Brasserie for French, and a beachfront taqueria that’s a natural lunch stop. Reserve Kabuki and Bistro ahead. The honest caveat reviews repeat is the food rhythm: breakfast and lunch lean on standard buffet, and the à la carte restaurants are where the kitchen actually shows up — so dinner is the meal worth planning around.

The beach is white sand with calm turquoise water and Bali beds. Seaweed is cleared a few times daily — comfortable without being a standout beach experience.

One thing to factor in: Costa Mujeres is about 45 minutes from the airport, longer than Hotel Zone properties. Build that into your transfer plan — we use USA Transfers — and it’s a non-issue.

This is for couples and friends who want a swim-up suite and a butler without paying Playa Mujeres’ top-tier prices, and who’ll happily plan their days around dinner. If you need a true child-free property with no family wing anywhere on site, or a beach that’s the main event rather than a pleasant backdrop, look elsewhere. A resort I enjoyed and would return to.
