Platinum Yucatan Princess

I stayed at Platinum Yucatán Princess on Valentine’s Day weekend 2026 after my first choice — Barceló Maya Riviera Adults Only — was sold out. With a three-day lead time on the booking, the only room they had left wasn’t a swim-up. I took it anyway. The buffet was genuinely excellent (homemade tortilla chips and salsas I’m still thinking about), the foam parties were a great time, and the food alone earns this resort a spot on the list. The swim-up suites worth booking are by the main party pool — next time, I’ll plan ahead to land one.

The Platinum Yucatán Princess sits at the top of the Princess Hotels & Resorts complex as the brand’s adults-only flagship — five stars, all-suite, all-inclusive, beachfront on the Riviera Maya. The structure of the property is worth understanding: Platinum guests access the adjacent Grand Riviera Princess and Grand Sunset Princess facilities, but those resorts don’t access the Platinum side. You get the run of a larger campus while keeping an adults-only home base.

Accommodations span 470 suites, with the Swim-Out Deluxe Junior Suites offering direct walk-in access to freshwater pools from the terrace. That’s the category to book if the water experience is the priority — and based on the foam party scene and party-pool energy, the swim-out suites adjacent to the main pool are the ones worth specifying at booking rather than leaving to assignment. Six restaurants and seven bars cover a mix of buffet and à la carte: Italian, Asian, grill, international, and Mexican. The buffet in particular is a genuine standout — not the afterthought it is at most resorts of this size.

The Casa Club sports complex adds tennis, paddle, and an artificial sports lagoon, and there’s a full spa with a hydrotherapy circuit for the days the party pool isn’t the plan. The property sits about 15 minutes north of central Playa del Carmen and Quinta Avenida — less walkable to town than some Playa-area resorts, so most guests stay on-property or take a taxi for shopping and nightlife excursions.
