Royalton CHIC Antigua

Antigua has two properties with overwater suites, and this is the adults-only one — the family-facing Royalton at Deep Bay holds the island’s other six. That’s the case for the directory spot, and it’s a strong one.

There are twelve, and they’re the reason to look at this resort at all. The Diamond Club Luxury Junior Sunset Overwater Suite starts the tier at 1,165 square feet; the Diamond Club Luxury Presidential Sunset Overwater Suite takes it to 1,918; the two-bedroom Diamond Club Chairman Sunset Overwater Bungalow tops out at 3,084 square feet. All three have glass floor panels, butler service, and — the part that matters most here — a private plunge pool on your own deck, facing west into the sunset. That last detail is unusual in the Caribbean, where overwater inventory more often means a deck ladder into the sea and nothing else.

The swim-out rooms are the other water story, and they work differently. The Diamond Club Luxury Junior Suite Beach Front opens onto a semi-private pool you step into from your terrace, and the Diamond Club Luxury Presidential Beach Front Swim Out One Bedroom Suite does the same with more room behind it. These are channels shared with a handful of neighboring suites, which in practice often means the water is yours. Note what those category names have in common: Royalton’s own suite list puts all the overwater and swim-out inventory inside Diamond Club. There’s no booking the water here without buying the tier, so price the two together.

The property itself is 235 suites on Dickenson Bay, on Antigua’s calm northwest shoulder, and it sits on the bones of the old Halcyon Cove — partly demolished, largely rebuilt, reopened as an adults-only Royalton CHIC in April 2024 under Blue Diamond Resorts and inside Marriott’s Autograph Collection, so Bonvoy nights and points apply. The transfer is genuinely short — five miles, roughly fifteen minutes from V.C. Bird International, about as easy as Caribbean arrivals get.

Dining runs to seven restaurants and five bars. Elements handles the buffet, Hunter Steakhouse is Royalton’s standard-issue grill, Olympus does Mediterranean, Vespa covers Italian, and Haven Grill takes the casual daytime shift. The headliner is Pescari, built out over the water on the pier that used to be the Warri Pier — reservations required, 18 and over, evening-chic dress code, and a “dining-tainment” format with the resort’s CHIC Angels working the room. Elsewhere there’s The Royal Spa with hydrotherapy, Royalton FIT classes, a beachfront infinity pool with a resident DJ, and the swim-up bar.

Be clear-eyed about what CHIC means, the honest caveat here: this is Royalton’s party line, and the pool parties, foam parties, and DJ hours are the intended experience, not an occasional event. There’s a calmer pool, set deliberately away from the noise — a walk you’ll make often if quiet is what you came for. Reviews have also stayed uneven since opening, most consistently on staffing: long waits at the Diamond Club swim-up bar, venues running out of items, and a club tier that thins in low season, when its breakfast and lunch fold back into the main restaurants. Some room blocks still read dated — a fair tell of a conversion rather than a ground-up build.

Come for the overwater suites and the plunge pool over the sunset, on the shortest airport transfer in the directory. If you want Antigua quiet and boutique instead, Hammock Cove is the other end of the same island. This one is loud on purpose — the water is the reason to accept that, and the water is very good.
