Secrets Cap Cana earns its directory spot on the swim-out suites and the beach they open onto — at most Punta Cana resorts you trade one for the other, and here you don’t have to. It’s adults-only, all-inclusive, and part of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, which matters more than it sounds.

The room category is the decision. The swim-out tiers all sit under Preferred Club, the resort’s top level, and the access is literal rather than implied — your furnished terrace steps straight into a shared pool channel. The entry point is the Preferred Club Bungalow Suite Swim Out, a low-slung Caribbean casita with wood floors, a king bed, and a private patio that includes an open-air moon shower, walled for privacy but open to the sky. It reads like brochure language until you use it. The category comes in pool-view and ocean-front orientations, the ocean-front ones obviously the upgrade if you want both water and a view. Above those, the Preferred Club Master Suite Swim Out roughly doubles the footprint, again in ocean-view and ocean-front versions. Preferred Club also buys a private pool and beach area and access to the Rosewater restaurant — so the upgrade is more than a few feet of pool deck.

The setting is the other half of the case. The resort sits on Juanillo Beach inside the gated Cap Cana enclave, a sugar-sand stretch that stays genuinely uncrowded — a rarity on this coast, where the Bávaro strip can feel like a parking lot for loungers. It’s about 457 suites, large but not chaotic, and the transfer from Punta Cana International (PUJ) runs roughly 15 to 20 minutes, among the shortest of any Dominican resort. You can be poolside before the airport-AC sweat has dried.

Dining is reservation-free across the board, which is the practical upside of the Unlimited-Luxury setup — no 6 a.m. scramble to book the steakhouse. The à la carte lineup spans Bordeaux for French, Portofino for Italian, Himitsu for pan-Asian, Oceana for seafood, and El Patio for Mexican, with Market Café covering the buffet and Seaside Grill handling poolside plates and Coco Café the coffee runs. Six bars include a swim-up and a theater bar. Booking through World of Hyatt earns and redeems points, which is the quiet argument for choosing a Hyatt Inclusive property over an unaffiliated one if you collect a currency.

The honest caveat is the beach itself, and it’s seasonal. Sargassum — the brown seaweed that plagues this whole coast — washes up here too, heaviest in the summer months, and reviews are consistent that crews rake it daily but can’t always keep ahead of a bad day. The water is swimmable, mostly sandy underfoot with the odd rock and patch of sea grass, but if you’re picturing a flawless turquoise entry every morning, check the season before you book. The other thing to know is the enclave: Cap Cana is gated and self-contained, so leaving means a taxi and a fare. Most guests never want to, but if wandering off-property is part of your trip, this isn’t the base for it.

Come for a swim-out suite that opens onto a beach actually worth walking out to, and the short transfer that gets you there fast. Skip it if you’re a beach purist booking into sargassum season, or if you’d rather not be sealed inside a gated community for the week.
