You & Me Maldives by Cocoon

Maldives · Raa Atoll · Adults-only · Overwater bungalows

An adults-only overwater-first resort on Uthurumaafaru in Raa Atoll, with private-pool Aqua Suites and H2O — an underwater restaurant six meters below the surface — at the end of a 45-minute seaplane from Malé.

You & Me by Cocoon is in the directory because it’s an overwater-first island where 99 of the 109 villas sit on the water — the property is engineered around the experience rather than slotting a few overwater units onto the edge of a beach resort. That, plus an underwater restaurant, is the case for the spot.

The water access is the thing to get right, because the categories split cleanly between water-adjacent and water-as-the-room. The entry overwater units — the Lagoon Villa and Lagoon Suite, Cocoon’s Manta and Dolphin tiers — put you on the lagoon with a seaside deck and direct access, but no pool of your own. The category to book if you want private water is the Aqua Suite with Pool: a large sunset-facing overwater suite with a private infinity pool, a sundeck, and lagoon access for stepping straight off into the ocean. The Lagoon Suite with Pool is the smaller, lower-priced overwater-with-pool option, and the Aqua Suite with Slide trades the pool for a water slide off the deck — fun, but not the same as having your own pool. The single You & Me Suite is the top of the building: a 250-square-metre overwater suite with private pool, in-villa cinema, and a personal gym. Ten beach suites with private pools round out the count for anyone who’d rather have sand than a jetty.

The resort sits on Uthurumaafaru in Raa Atoll, in the northern Maldives, reached by a roughly 45-minute scenic seaplane from Velana International near Malé — far enough north to clear the airport-side resort cluster. The seaplane is daylight-only, which matters for itinerary planning: arrive late in the day and the resort routes you instead via a 30-minute domestic flight to Ifuru Airport and a 20-minute speedboat, so a late international arrival doesn’t strand you in Malé.

Dining runs on a premium all-inclusive “dine around” model — lunch and dinner at any à la carte restaurant, breakfast at the main room, no buffets. The Sand is the main restaurant with live cooking stations; Rising Sun handles teppanyaki, La Pasta is the Italian beachside room, Green Carpet does lighter poolside lunches, and a sushi bar was added recently. The marquee, billed separately, is H2O by Andrea Berton — the Maldives’ first fully submerged underwater restaurant, a 20-seat dining room about six metres below the surface ringed in acrylic, with a set menu from the Michelin-starred chef. It is not part of the all-inclusive plan; treat it as a paid event, and one of the reasons the price is easier to defend.

The honest caveats reviews repeat are about the water itself rather than the villas. The house-reef snorkelling close in draws complaints — guests describe dead coral near shore and having to head out past the overwater villas to find the good stuff, so set expectations if reef life off your deck is the whole point of the trip. Service gets mixed marks too: glowing for most, but a real minority report thin staffing and slow response on a property this spread out. And note the adults-only policy here is 16+, not 18+ — lower than most adults-only resorts in the directory, which matters if a fully grown-up room is what you’re after.

Come for the overwater-with-private-pool stay and the novelty of dining six metres underwater. Book the Aqua Suite with Pool specifically if private water is the point, plan around the daylight seaplane, and go in clear-eyed about the close-in reef.
