The Bar on Stilts in the Middle of the Sea: Floyd's Pelican Bar
A friend showed me pictures of Floyd's Pelican Bar years ago and it went straight to the top of my bucket list: a driftwood bar on stilts in the middle of the sea off Jamaica's south coast, reachable only by boat. A few years later we hired a local driver and finally made the trip. I couldn't stop thinking about it after we left.

The Best Thing We Did in Asia Was a Backup Plan
We got turned away at the Vietnam–China land border — eventfully — and lost the bamboo boat ride we'd been looking forward to in Guilin. Back in Hanoi with unexpected time, we booked a day cruise in Ha Long Bay almost as a consolation. It became one of the two best days of a fifteen-day trip.
